Princess gets pelted

The bodyguards of Queen Elizabeth II’s 19-year-old granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, were hit with rocks after they tackled a thief who tried to rob her in Cambodia, a British newspaper has reported.

Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and her friends were travelling in the South-East Asian country when a thief tried to steal her friend’s purse as they walked through the capital Phnom Penh one night, The Sun said.

Royal protection officers tackled the thief but were pelted with stones by another man, forcing them to let him go and focus on getting the princess to safety. They also managed to retrieve the purse.A member of the Buckingham Palace staff confirmed the incident and praised the officers’ bravery, The Sun reported.

The princess has visited India, South America, Australia, South Africa and Thailand during her gap year, the paper reported। It said was the first time in 10 years that protection officers have stopped a direct threat to a member of the royal family.

Actually, I think it was probably members of Cambodia’s Swine Flu Unit trying to drive yet another porcine princess out of our fair land. Bully for them !
